“Make of that statement what you will Vauxhall. If you have a problem with me, take it up with people in the capital of Israel… … that’s Jerusalem by the way”
IRAN remains a considerable terror threat to UK security despite increased sanctions imposed on Tehran, a US counter-terror chief has warned.
Europe as well as Britain is still at risk of an attack with the US calling for a tougher stance on the Middle-eastern nation. Nathan Sales, America’s counter-terrorism coordinator, said the UK was likely target because it is regarded as “fertile ground for its operations”.
He told The Telegraph: “It is unacceptable that Iran would regard the European continent as fertile ground for its campaign of terrorism.”
He added: “If there are no costs, Iran is going to keep at it. So it’s incumbent on us to impose those costs so that we can deter future acts of terrorism.”
Meanwhile, the US was full of praise for the UK for recognising Hezbollah, a Shi’a Islamist political party and militant group based in Lebanon, as a terror organisation rather than a credible political movement.
